Courses and Demonstrations - 2008/2009

Le Paradou offers the perfect opportunity for your art holiday with it's wonderful location on the River Lot. Situated in a sheltered gorge that nestles below the little hamlet of Carmarans between two delightful ancient villages. There are many facilities, plunge pool, workshop for - pottery, woodworking, lathe, pyrography, woodcarving, picture framing and mount cutting,and the special large and safe "artboat" to paint the stunning tranquil reflections. There are additional activities available such as a private lounge/bar/studio over looking the river and gardens and you may have a go at archery, airgun, or walk in the rich woodlands studying nature and sketching. The unit/bedrooms can be booked totally for your group of up to six for any period April to October, subject to availability.

 

For such courses Rosie and Peter Wood are only offering their home to small groups a few times a year in order to give a quality experience that ALL will enjoy, including themselves. This is not an insensitive commercial operation but two experienced fully qualified educators with many years, successful, experience who will provide almost individual and personal attention from morning until bedtime! With this in mind students and artists of almost any ability and needs are welcome and we are certain will enjoy and succeed. Basic tools and materials will be provided in the price, it is up to the individual as to how much work or variety they wish to produce and therefore materials they require, but unlike many commercial courses, an opportunity to paint is offered almost full time, the group choosing the path required. Demonstrations both for the group and personal are constantly available in almost any medium. If students prefer to have more sophisticated accommodation then they may stay at the recommended hotel in Estaing, at the appropriate additional costs,but may miss out on some of the charisma of Le Paradou and evening entertainments etc!!

 Quality tailor made courses for small groups (max 4) giving almost one to one tuition and a choice of multi mediums. Professional tuition and wonderful surroundings. Plus full workshop facilities, all course transport and full board.

£85.00 - €124.00 Per Day. 5/7 days

ONLY £ 599.00 / € 882 for a 7 Night / one week - 5 full working day course - Sun - Sun.

Basic materials supplied - a supplement for additional materials only.

Supplement for non participating guest accompanying £55.00 - €80.00 - includes all meals.

When reading the costs please bear in mind they are in Euros, about two thirds of the pound so much cheaper than they appear! Plus we have looked at my competition - we are below the price of nearly all and offer smaller groups! We will tailor your course to suite you. A private kitchen, bar annd lounge are close to your accommodation also available for personal needs. Course price includes transport and visits to local beauty spots.

Art/photography/film/craft courses -

 

 

Cheaper courses can, possibly, be arranged by negotiation outside these dates for small groups - e.g. self catering, sharing a room, etc. Supplement for self catering, per person, E10.00 p.day -- non participants accompanying students at full board E60.00 p.day,or accommodation in a local hotel.

Many activities will run here from walking - boating skills, trips, canoes - arts - crafts - photography - archery - angling - ski in winter and more. But only on a small personal scale, with most of the areas being covered by local specialists and visiting tutors etc. So places will be limited to small groups and advanced booking advised.

If you have further interests to join in with this project, ideas, to teach here, offer other skills, use Le Paradou or even help run it then please contact Rosie.

 

You may compose a menu to suit your groups needs, from digital photography and film making - to almost any fine art medium in drawing and painting. You may also use the craft studio for pottery, woodwork, pyrography, printmaking and engraving.

As an experienced Teacher and Artist I am able to offer short demonstrations and organise courses for Art groups, clubs, societies and individuals.

Demonstrations are usually under the titles of --

"A complete Introduction to Oil Painting," "A complete Introduction to Pastels," "Many methods of Drawing," "An Introduction to Watercolour techniques," ," "Mixed Medium - Acrylic Inks, Watercolour, Pastel, Pencil". Most are supported with full sets of notes.

A two hour slide show which includes a short demonstration or "field study" in pastels is available showing the scenery and work being produced on painting trips abroad and in England. (only available, later, in France)

A limited amount of Workshops and Courses can be arranged, according to requirements, needs and the subject.
